What do interns actually do?

Our For Common Good interns are storytellers, committed to sharing stories of good! They will champion the unsung heroes - the local and Caribbean civil sector professionals and grassroots changemakers, doing the work. Our interns will write original articles, edit externally submitted content, shoot and edit original video, take photos, create podcasts, create graphics, and publish on multiple platforms.

Is experience required?

Interns should be currently enrolled in a university level program that offers courses in journalism, creative writing, mass communications or public relations OR be a recent graduate in the past three years with professional media or communications experience.

 

Application 

  • A one-page resume (PDF)

  • A cover letter focusing on your storytelling experience. Please include your media and communications career goals and reasons why you want to become a For Common Good storyteller. (PDF)

  • Two samples of your best work. This can include articles, blog posts (links provided), videos (links provided), social media campaigns (links provided) or any work that you believe will support your application. 

 

Do For Common Good interns get a stipend?

Yes, all For Common Good interns are given a stipend.

 

How many hours and months is the internship?

The internship runs for 3 months and we ask for a commitment of 10 hours a week/ 40 hours a month that will be mostly completed remotely. We will occasionally ask that you work with us out of our headquarters in Arima or in the field.  

 

Can the internship count toward school credits?

For Common Good Platform is eager to support students in any way and we are willing to tailor your experience with us to meet any official school requirements.

 

What equipment will you need to fulfill the internship?

  1. Your laptop/computer 

  2. Phone and internet access

  3. Digital camera equipment where possible - if our focus is photojournalism

  4. Video camera equipment where possible - If your focus is video creation
