FOR COMMON GOOD - Stories of Us. MERIKIN by Kimberly De Souza

By Kimberly De Souza

This is the story of the Merikins as told through the eyes of Curwin Callendar, a proud

descendant of the freed, African-American slaves who journeyed to Trinidad at the height of

slavery between May 1815 to August 1816.

Take a look at the history of the settlers, and how their culture shaped Trinidad and Tobago

Kimberly De Souza is a Journalist, Writer and Storyteller who participated in the Writing for Culture cohort of our FOR COMMON GOOD Arima x Louisville Exchange which was facilitated by Louisville Story Program which has become our 'Stories of Us' project.
